SCHEDULE YOUR FAA PART 107 EXAM

INFORMATION

Before you can earn your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, you must register for and pass the FAA Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG) knowledge exam. Here’s how to navigate the registration process smoothly.

* DO NOT Schedule your exam prior the studying the course guides and until after you are confident in knowing and understanding the required Part 107 exam topics.

1. GET YOUR FTN # WITH THE FAA

Create an account in the FAA’s Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) system at https://iacra.faa.gov. Upon registering, you will receive an FTN. This unique number is required when scheduling your exam.

2. Find an FAA Authorized Testing Center

The FAA uses PSI Services as the official testing provider. Visit https://faa.psiexams.com to locate an approved Knowledge Testing Center (KTC) near you. Testing centers are available across the United States, but availability may vary, so schedule accordingly.

3. Schedule Your Exam

Use your FTN to log in at the PSI website and select your preferred location, date, and time. The exam is typically $175, but the fee may vary depending on the test site. For more info, contact: PSI Services LLC (844) 704-1487 or examschedule@psionline.com

4. Required Identification

Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport) that matches the name you used when registering. You must be at least 14 years of age to take the FAA Knowledge Exam.

5. Exam details & Information

The UAG exam consists of 60 Questions with multiple-choice answers. You have 2 hours to complete the exam. A passing score is 70% or higher. (You are not allowed to have your smartphone during the exam, but a simple calculator and an FAA approved magnifying glass is allowed)

6. during the exam tips

  • Read the question first before looking at the multiple choice answers.
  • Look for keywords like "most likely", "required", or "according to Part 107."
  • Use "Process of Elimination" to cross out obviously wrong answers.
  • For sectional chart questions, always refer to the figure number listed.
  • Difficult questions: Flag them and come back later. Don’t get stuck.
  • Your first answer is often right unless you find a solid reason to change it.
  • Manage your time: 2 hours = 2 minutes per question.

test tips - FAA PART 107 EXAM

IMPORTANT

* DO NOT Schedule your exam prior the studying the course guides and until after you are confident in knowing and understanding the required Part 107 exam topics.

1. Know the Test Structure

 60 multiple-choice questions

  • 3 answer choices per question (A, B, C)
  • 2 hours to complete the test
  • 70% required to pass (you need 42 correct answers)
  • Administered at an FAA-authorized testing center (PSI site)

2. Focus on High-Yield Topics

Some sections consistently appear on every exam:

  • Airspace Classification and Restrictions (≈20–25%)
  • Sectional Charts and Latitude/Longitude Coordinates
  • Weather Interpretation (METARs, TAFs, Clouds, Fronts)
  • Loading, Performance, and Aerodynamics (Aircraft Dynamics
  • Crew Resource Management & Decision-Making
  • Regulations (Part 107 rules, waivers, and operational limits)

Tip: Don’t over-study minor details. The FAA loves application questions — understanding why something matters is more valuable than memorizing definitions.

3. Learn How to Read Sectional Charts

Identify airspace boundaries, obstructions, and airports.

  • Know how to locate coordinates using latitude and longitude lines.
  • Practice reading class B, C, D, and E airspace symbols and their floor/ceiling altitudes.

4. Understand Weather Reports

You will almost certainly see questions with METARs and TAFs.

  • METAR = Current observation
  • TAF = Forecast
  • Learn how to decode wind direction/speed, visibility, cloud layers, and temperature/dew point spread.
  • Know how unstable air (cumulus) vs. stable air (stratus) affects visibility and turbulence.

5. Simulate the Real Exam

Take timed practice tests online using FAA-style questions recommended sources:

👉 Goal: Practice until you can consistently score above 90% -that gives you a comfortable safety margin on test day.

6. Test-Day Mindset

  • Arrive early with a government-issued photo ID.
  • Bring a non-programmable calculator.
  • Pace yourself: 2 hours = 2 minutes per question.
  • Mark any tough ones, skip them, and come back later.

7. believe you can do this!

"You have studied long and hard! You deserve to be an FAA Certified Remote Pilot." 😎👍
